- Truclear™ is a private label progressive addition lens (PAL) exclusive to VisionSource® with product and fabrication exclusive to Essilor Laboratories of America, Inc. (ELOA)
- Truclear™ is the lens of choice for VisionSource when Varilux® or DEFINITY™ is not an option, and is the product of choice over other progressive lenses
Truclear: Customized to your patients’ eyes
Uniquely designed
(Traditionally Surfaced)
- Customizes the design based on eye anatomy (retinal curvature and rotational center), minimizing distortion and maximizing vision
- Eye anatomy impacts your patient’s progressive lens design requirements addressing unique visual needs
Truclear HD™: Performance with more choices
Uniquely designed with High Definition
(Digitally Surfaced)
In addition to the benefits of Truclear, Truclear HD design provides even greater visual clarity, customized for a wider range of frame choices through digital surface technology
- Subtly re-engineers the lens design to fit your patient’s frame choice
- The optimized design uses pinpoint accuracy available through digital surfacing technology to customize the lens to individual frame parameters
- Enhances the width of the horizontal viewing space and adjusts the vertical corridor length (down to 15 mm) — optimizing the design to the frame and patient
- No additional measurements are required, taking into account frame dimensions and position of the patient’s pupil — the design is customized, enhancing all vision fields
Every presbyope is different — by adjusting the progressive design to the eye anatomy, Truclear™ provides faster adaptation and clearer vision. Patients want choice. Not every patient will opt for premium brands. Truclear gives them additional choice options that offer the benefits patients want.

No. Under current VSP rules, in order for a lens to obtain VSP approval, it must be available to all eye care professionals. Since Truclear is a private label PAL available only through VisionSource accounts, it is not VSP approved.

Truclear™ is totally aspherized. Yet, there is no difference between the power measured in the lensometer (distance vision) and the prescribed Rx.

No, Truclear™ is fit using the typical measurements required for all progressive lenses. With Truclear™ HD, typical frame measurements are needed — as they determine the available visual space so that the best design can be calculated for the frame.
The minimum fitting height for Truclear™ is 17 mm. For smaller frame sizes, Truclear™ HD lenses have a minimum fitting height of 15 mm.
Yes. Truclear™ has a suggested minimum fitting height of 17 mm. For smaller frame styles, Truclear™ HD makes it possible to order a fitting height of 15 mm. However, Truclear™ is not a short-corridor PAL, so for fitting heights of less than 15 mm, a short-corridor PAL should be considered, such as Varilux® Ellipse®, DEFINITY™ SHORT™, or SmallFit™.
